Glass isn’t just for windows anymore. Recycled and recyclable glass
countertops are a stylish green alternative to natural stone and they
reduce landfill waste.

Each 110-inch by 49-inch slab of Bio-Glass saves 1 cubic yard of
landfill and produces 35 pounds less in carbon dioxide emissions,
according to the manufacturer CoveringsEtc.

Bio-Glass is made from 100 percent recycled glass and can be used for
countertops or worktops, backsplashes and interior flooring. It’s
multidimensional appearance and coloring varies with direct and
indirect light sources. Bio-Glass comes in five colors: light green,
white, dark brown, dark green and blue. The white and light-green
slabs are made from 100 percent postindustrial recycled content and
the brown slabs are made of 100 percent post-consumer recycled
content. The countertop’s finishes are offered in polished, honed and
natural finishes.
