Eco-Friendly, Green Countertops: Chromatic Inspiration

If you’re after sophisticated color and eco-friendly design solutions,
look no further than 3form, the Salt Lake City-based manufacturer of
environmentally friendly resin products for architecture and design.

The company’s ecoresin surfacing is made of a co-polyester recycled
content used to make panels containing bold color, textiles, natural
objects or textures. These panels can be molded into any shape and can
be used for myriad applications, including counters, partitions and
backsplashes.

One of the company’s most recent introductions, Chroma with Aura color
infusion technology, lets designers combine jewel-like panels with
natural or artificial light. Color is infused to a depth of 250
microns (about the same as 10 sheets of paper), so it won’t scratch
off. Its renewable matte finish allows the resin to be repeatedly
resurfaced and recolored to like-new condition. At the end of their
life, sheets can be returned to the factory via the 3form Reclaim
Program, where color is removed from the panels and they can be remade
into other 3form products.

"Our high-design/low-impact approach to material design supports our
corporate commitment to environmental stewardship," says Meredith
LeSueur, 3form’s marketing coordinator. Projects gain LEED
construction waste credits when using Chroma and the company also
offers material leasing options with an end-of-life "eco-deposit."
