My Brothers All,
Please read the message below from Fr. Jeff regarding STAND Training and why it is important that those of us who do volunteer work with the youth in any capacity should have the training.  If you are involved with the Scouts, any Church or youth program the Knights are involved with or sponsor such as Special Olympics,  Soccer Shootout, Free Throw Shootout, Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest, and the Pancake Breakfast, then you should be taking the training and getting certified. If you DO NOT take the training and get certified, then you CANNOT participate in any activity involving youth.  This is an Archdiocesan Requirement.  The training can be taken on-line and takes about an hour to complete.   Just follow the links below to complete the training process.  There is the Application for Volunteer Service and the Volunteer Criminal History Screening Consent forms you need to complete as part of this process.  Please complete the forms and follow directions on what you are to do after completing them.  Upon completion of the STAND  training, you will get a certificate of completion which is documented by the Archdiocese.  I encourage all of you to take the training so we do not run the risk of compromising any activity we support as Knights.  If you have any questions about this, please contact me.  The sooner all of us complete this training, the sooner all of us can get on with the good work we do with the youth.

Worthy DD John: Please send this email on to the State Deputy for his review and awareness so that he can send the message out to all the Maryland Councils and Knights.

I thank Fr. Jeff for providing the links for us to complete this training as quickly as we can.

Thank you,
Larry South

We are blessed with a parish community that encompasses the broad spectrum of life, both young and elderly.  Because we have so many young families with children, and have so many young people actively involved in the parish’s many activities and ministries, it is incumbent on us to ensure that we provide a safe and healthy environment for our children and young people.  For several years. the Archdiocese of Baltimore has had in place strict requirements with regard to Child and Youth Protection.

Part of those requirements insist that ALL adults (age 18 and over) who are part of ANY ministry or activity involving children and youth be fully certified, screened, and trained in Child and Youth Protection policies.

Because we have so many ministries and activities that consistently incorporate children and youth, I would like to encourage as many adults as possible to be certified and trained.  It is better to have the certification and training done in advance, should you ever wish to participate in ANY ministry or activity involving children (including such things as Winter Relief, and Faithfull Families Events, to name but two).
