Rumpus: Ah, that gets to what I was probably asking with that previous question: when is very young motherhood a boon? What are the various factors that can stymie our creative growth and survival?
She is a graduate of Mills College and the University of California at Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.[when?][citation needed] While attending Mills College in the 1990s, Gore was a young, single mom raising her daughter.[9]
Athena was the late wife of King Triton, and the late mother of Ariel, Andrina, Arista, Aquata, Adella, Alana, and Attina. She was the Queen of Atlantica, and beloved by her family and subjects. She was noted for her singing talent and her love of music. She and Triton had been best friends since their childhood. Unfortunately, she died as a result of a run-in with a big pirate ship when Ariel was very young, fueling Triton's hatred of humans and music as a result. A statue of her dancing with him is present in his courtyard, where he cried over her death every day.
Athena appears in the film's flashbacks to when her daughters were very young. She and Triton are shown to be very much in love. They are shown to share a special song (known as "Endless Sky"). They share the song with their daughters and use it as a lullaby. One day, they are relaxing in a cove with the princesses and some other merpeople. They are celebrating their anniversary, and so Triton gives Athena a special music box that plays their song. However, pirates soon approach the cove and attack the merpeople. Most of the mermaids and mermen escape safely. Triton carries Ariel, Arista, Aquata, and Adella to safety while Andrina and Alana dive into the water to swim to safety, but Attina, the oldest princess, gets her tail stuck between two rocks. Athena is able to free her in time, but she is crushed to death by the ship while trying to save the music box, due to the pirates apparently losing control of their ship and unable to stop it from crushing Athena and running aground the rocks, breaking the keel and sinking it.
The Little Mermaid is undoubtedly one of Disney's most popular princess movies, and the one that turned millions of children around the world into mermaid fans. This production was written and directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, the creative duo who also helmed such hits as Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog, and Moana. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, The Little Mermaid follows Ariel, a young mermaid who is obsessed with the human world and life out of the sea. Eventually, she opts to disobey her father and makes a pact with Ursula, the sea witch, to become human for three days in order to see Eric, a man she fell in love with, once again. However, this deal is far more dangerous than Ariel anticipated, and the consequences for her life and the kingdom of Atlantica can be devastating.
At the beginning of The Little Mermaid, the audience is introduced to Ariel, the main character of the story, and a brief overview of her life and family. This young mermaid is the seventh and youngest daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena. Her older sisters are Andrina, Arista, Aquata, Adella, Alana, and Attina. And while most of these characters are featured in the film, one is distinctly absent: Athena. Audiences only get to see her in The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning, a production that explores a bit more of Ariel's life and her parents' story. Queen Athena is depicted as a loving mermaid who is cherished by her family and everyone around her. She is fond of music and owns a beautiful voice. She looks very similar to Ariel: both of them are gorgeous, with bright red hair, a purple seashell bra and their mermaid tails in greenish tones, although Athena has green eyes and wears gold jewelry. From the few scenes she is featured, you can see that Athena and her husband King Triton have a beautiful relationship.
Queen Athena's absence in Atlantica is addressed through flashbacks in the 2008 film The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning. The production takes us back to Ariel's childhood, featuring a much younger King Triton along with Queen Athena as they enjoy their life together while running a kingdom that is full of music and laughter. On their wedding anniversary, the couple and all of their daughters head off to a cove to celebrate. While there, Triton gifts his wife a music box containing gold figures of them, which, when opened, plays their favorite song.
As a result of this terrible loss, Kind Triton bans music in the kingdom and all contact with the human world, leaving the fun and laughter-filled kingdom it once was in oblivion. At the same time, driven by the fear of losing another member of his family, he becomes a very strict father-figure in raising his daughters, especially Ariel. Likely, his youngest daughter's rebellious, curious, and adventurous attitude reminds him very much of Athena, and that is why Triton is particularly hard on her, desperately trying to keep her away from the surface and thwarting her every attempt to learn about humans.
But not everyone shares this sentiment. Heartwarming reactions of Black children seeing this new Ariel for the first time in the teaser went viral on TikTok and Instagram, prompting positive responses from viewers and wider media coverage. And in March a young fan clung to Bailey at Walt Disney World, resulting in another viral moment showing the positive impact of representation. Additionally, Mattel released an Ariel doll in April resembling Bailey, including the red braids and mole above her eyebrow, and it has quickly become a #1 bestseller on Amazon.
Roland Williams: The current generation is getting a new visual landscape so that they can have a different perspective and a greater appreciation of human differences. Representation of an African American woman as a love interest and a beautiful being should become natural. This version of The Little Mermaid is great for young people because it allows them to better appreciate diversity and gain a better sense of the world. Diversity and inclusion in film and TV can attract a larger audience and is seen as more authentic and enjoyable.
The new live-action film is a remake of the Disney animated classic The Little Mermaid from 1989. The story follows a young mermaid, Ariel, who makes a deal with an evil sea witch to grow legs and live on land in order to fall in love with a prince, all at the cost of her voice.

The paramedics pull out a patient with a head trauma from a malfunctioning airbag. Neal rushes over to the second ambulance, which holds Ariel Braeden, the first patient's daughter. She tries to run to him, but Mario restrains her. He tells her her dad's not going to die. Leanne steps in and asks if she wants it straight or if she wants doctor talk. She says she wants it straight. Leanne tells her they don't know why her father's unconscious, but they can't find out outside in the dark. They need to get inside. She promises to tell Ariel everything she knows as soon as she knows it. Ariel gets back in her bed and Leanne tells Mario never to lie to a patient again. She may be young, but she's entitled to the truth.
Leanne asks Hannah what's next and she directs Leanne and Christa to a pregnant woman with an upper respiratory infection in triage. Leanne says it sounds like the flu and sends Christa to evaluate and then find her. As she walks away, Mario stops her and asks how she knows so much. She says she doesn't. He asks if she's pulling a second residency, if she's already a doctor in another area and going back to be an ER doctor. She says she was too busy being a wife and a mom. He asks if she's sure she's ready for this. She asks how old he thinks she is. He says there's no tougher place to work than Angels Memorial. It's hard enough for ... and she finishes "the young". He says unattached. She tells him to stop being threatened by her and he claims he isn't. She suggests they go see her patient together and maybe they'll both learn something. He agrees.
