Hi,

I have installed the developer preview N1QL to play a bit and I have noticed that only newly created buckets can be queried by N1QL. Is there a way to be able to read/load the already existing buckets?

N1QL is a very interesting and amazing feature/addition of CouchBase that has been recently announced. Is there a date of when we are going to have a release?

Is there a link to see details about the architecture and how it is working in the background?

Is there any plans to release updates about the Couchbase client to be able to send queries?

Thanks a lot
Thomas

Hi Thomas.

Yes, N1QL can query existing buckets:

SELECT * FROM :system.buckets

N1QL will be released in 2014.

You can issue EXPLAIN SELECT ... to see what is happening internally.

Yes, you will be able to issue queries via the client SDKs. This is in progress.

Please let us know if we can answer any other questions.

Thanks a lot Gerald,

I have executed the command given but I see all test buckets apart from the one actually using.. Could this be happening because i have set a password for this?

Thanks again

Thomas--

Yes, currently there are limitations with password-protected buckets. We'll fix this by allowing you specify an admin password when launching cbq-engine.
