Hi guys, I have a problem with adding server node.

I have installec coubase server 2.5.1 on Ubuntu 14.04.

I have added 3 nodes in internal net and all it's ok:

192.168.1.90
192.168.1.94
192.168.1.96

i want to add also a web server with ip  (example).. 82.140.120.120

on this server i have opened all ports that couchbase use:
8091

8092

11209

11210

11211

11214

11215

18091

18092

4369

21100 to 21199 (inclusive)

with address that have my router

but when i try to add server node with address 82.140.120.120 it give me an error
"
Attention - Prepare join failed. Failed to reach erlang port mapper. Timeout connecting to "192.168.1.96" on port "4369". This could be due to an incorrect host/port combination or a firewall in place between the servers."

where 192.168.1.96 is my ipaddress.

in my router configuration i have also opended port 4369 with my ip (192.168.1.96)..

someone could help me to understand why I cant add this server node?

thanks a lot.

Something is likely not right with "router configuration". This error message is very precise about what happened exactly (something I'm personally proud of btw).

Try disabling firewall entirely. You said it's internal network anyways.

And in order to help you troubleshoot this probably firewall problem I'll need more details about "router configuration". Do you have any separate router devices that also serves as network filter?

In first thanks a lot for your reply :)

the address of web server ( 82.140.120.120) is out of local network of course, not here in office but in a web farm ( I thing )
In our local area (office), we don't have any firewall and we have only one router for connection to internet, but i have also open a port 4369 with my local address (192.168.1.96), but  i think this is no matter to add server node....right?

About the firewall on 82.140.120.120 all ports are open with public IP of our router here in office(somethig like 95.254.XX.XXX)

but I can't shutdown firewall on that machine...

I tried one think...
Connect to that machine (82.140.120.120) via putty... and then via telnet  on router IP (95.154.xx.xxx) but does not connect....

in effect i dont understand how is possible make rebalance between local area network and an IP public out of local network..

I think that documents "travel" from one server and other... if all server are in local network is ok..... but if there are 3 server in local network and 1 out of local network.... the server out of network, with public IP   how can comunicate with a server inside the local network? (192.168.x.x) ?..... i think it could dialogate with router..... and then?...

Now that it's clear that you're trying to cluster NAT-ted  host in private network and machine with public IP it's clearer why it fails. It might be possible to do something with it depending on your specific setup (e.g. deploy VPN). But my simple advice to you is: "simply don't do it".
