What is this? It's a group for developers who we hope will spread the word about Couchbase 2.0.

8091 is a reference to the port through which you connect to the Admin UI. It was a little hard to pick a specific port, as we use a handful of them in the Server. I hope you think 8091 is a decent choice.

Who am I? One of the early CouchDB committers, now working on the internals of Couchbase Server APIs. My main job is to make sure the products we ship are useful and awesome for as many people as possible. You'd think that's everyone's job, but really we're better off having some people only thing about bitmasked b-tree distributed indexing, or queuing writes to disk, etc.

A big point of this mailing list is collecting feedback that can make the product better. Eg: "The view deployment workflow is confusing" is exactly the kind of thing we want to hear. Hopefully this list is the right forum for people to explore solutions to various things, so when we're talking to people at meetups etc we have a decent handle on how to explain the sweet spot for Couchbase.

We also want to give you resources to share at meetups / conferences / your co-working space. So things like slides, etc we'll be available here.

One last note. We really want you out there in the world sharing your Couchbase stories. So please apply to speak at conferences and any other venue you think you have the right material for. If you need help with material, feel free to reach out to me personally. The same goes for travel costs. If you get accepted to speak at a conference, and your work won't pay your travel costs, talk to us. We can't guarantee anything, but we definitely dont want fear of travel costs to keep you from submitting conference proposals.

Please be vocal with your questions. If stuff gets too deep into a particular technology stack (Java debugging or something) we'll ask you to move it to the regular Couchbase group. Also the group membership is moderated, but I don't anticipate people getting turned away. Here is the signup page -- please share with your Couchbase-using friends: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/couchbase-8091
