Kudos on the awesome conference guys.  I had a quick question on the keynote demo.  I think Perry created it, but figured I would just ask here.

What was used to generate the 3M ops/sec load?  Was the load all coming from the Node app, or was most of it coming from a load generation tool directly on the cluster?

Thanks!

Hey Brad, it was a collaborative effort but thanks for the kudos!

I was actually using pillowfight on a separate client instance to run the load against the cluster.  The key to the performance was that the c3.4xlarge instances basically have 10G networking within Amazon.

I also used rather small item sizes, but I've recently tested over 1M ops/sec with nearly 1k object sizes which is quite large considering the bandwidth requirements.

The webapp was in node.js, but the extra workload was just from pillowfight, which is a utility from libcouchbase.

Hope that helps,

Matt

Thanks for the replies guys.  Yes, I did see the blog write up which I think was a smart idea.  The demo was spot-on to showcase performance.  I'm sure you saw, but the official tweet for your blog entry has gotten about 450 favorites and over 120 retweets.

Thanks!
