Our filibuster reform discussion group has been dormant for some time but I just got a message from Beth Allen at CWA about a new group you might be interested in:  (Beth Allen <bal...@cwa-union.org>)

Filibuster Reform Social Media Updates Group

We are moving into a critical time for Senate rules reform.

There's a great roundup in the Post today of bills that would have passed if there were no filibuster - The DREAM Act, DISCLOSE, Employee Free Choice, Paycheck Fairness...you get the idea.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2012/12/05/17-bills-that-likely-would-have-passed-the-senate-if-it-didnt-have-the-filibuster/

As long as the filibuster exists in its present form, progressive legislation will continue to die in the Senate.

To be clear, the reforms that the Fix the Senate Now coalition is supporting wouldn't abolish the filibuster entirely, but they would reduce the opportunity for filibuster and make those who want to filibuster legislation take the floor and debate it. And the burden of sustaining the filibuster would fall to the minority which would have to muster 41 votes to keep it going.

We've started a daily e-mail that highlights the key talking point of the day on filibuster reform, with a suggested Tweet, Facebook posting, and on special days even an infographic. If you'd like to be on the list, send me an e-mail or email ad...@fixthesenatenow.org.

The more the merrier! Join the fun!

PS This is the first email sent to that group, to help you decide to join or not:

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the Fix the Senate social media listserve. We've got over 50 people on this list already and would love to have more - if you know of other folks who would like to engage in this campaign have them send an e-mail to ad...@fixthesenatenow.org.

John Perry, who works with me at CWA, will be sending out a daily e-mail with suggested social media content about the Senate rules reform campaign. If you've got content to share, or want to ask folks for help promoting something related to the campaign on social media, you can e-mail the list at social...@fixthesenatenow.org.

If you haven't already, we encourage you to like the Fix The Senate Now Facebook page, follow the Twitter feed and share conent from the Website. If you see something you like feel free to grab it - all we ask is that you attribute it to Fix the Senate Now.

In addition, if you like, we'd love to provide you with a Facebook-ready graphic of your organization's lead speaking in favor of Senate rules reform. You can check out an example here: http://on.fb.me/Xv9dB3.

We'd just need a picture, quote, and the text you'd like along the bottom of the image. If you're interested, please shoot us an email.

And if you are on Reddit, keep an eye out for rules reform-related posts and upvote them! Or post your own stuff. You can see what CWA is posting athttp://www.reddit.com/user/cwaunion.

Thanks for joining this effort!
