Answer is 3 trips.

Let x be length of original cube so total volume = x^3
y & z be length of two cubes so y + z = x

Let r be volume of rectangle, r = xyz

also remaining wax volume is x^3 - y^3 - z^3 = nr (n number of trips to ware house).
=> (y + z)^3 - y^3 - z^3 = n(y+z)yz
=> 3yz(y+z) = n(y+z)yz
=> n = 3

So, this puzzle has been spoilt for others. It's my fault. I should
have enabled moderation of messages and ensured that spoilers do not
get posted to the group so soon. I have enabled it now and we won't
see spoilers in future.

Having said that, there is still some room for creativity in trying
to find alternate solutions, perhaps intuitive or geometrical ones.
