I’m writing to share opportunities in the Varela lab for those interested in learning and memory research in rodents.
We are looking for motivated researchers to join our team investigating circuit-level mechanisms of learning and memory. Our work integrates cutting-edge approaches, including electrophysiological recordings in freely behaving rats, closed-loop neural manipulations, optogenetics, and computational analysis.
Ongoing and upcoming projects span both basic and translational neuroscience, from studying the role of higher-order thalamic nuclei in sleep-dependent memory consolidation to thalamic circuit dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease models.
We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and career stages, whether you’re seeking a postbacc, PhD, or a postdoc position. Flexible start dates available over the coming year.
We are part of the Psychology Department and Neuroscience Graduate Program at Florida State University. Interested candidates please send your curriculum and a brief description of your research interests and goals to c.va...@fsu.edu. Candidates selected for an interview will be requested to provide contact information for up to three references. https://varelalab.create.fsu.edu/
