Hi guys!

Today I had to deploy a rails app to a VPS, when doing that, since I know the server will be exposed, I guet a little nervous about forgetting something, so doing a little search I came across this blog: http://blog.lunarlogicpolska.com/2013/setup-fresh-ubuntu-server-for-ruby-on-rails/
I think it covers pretty much everything from the user creation to monitoring the server
What do you guys think? can you add something? do you know any step that could be improved?

I wouldn't use rvm, rbenv is much better and easier to use , the installation seems pretty standard, remember to remove sensitive files from your repo. Also find a good host I host my stuff at mediatemple.net DV it's "cheap" and really good and reliable

AWS also provides some built-in security features:

You should consider moving away from using MySQL. The days of MySQL being the a community driven open source db has come to an end after being acquired by oracle. MariaDB has taken off where MySQL left off. I believe it is a fork of MySQL. Personally, I use Postgres.
