Hens

Saludas....

My hens all of a sudden quit laying eggs...most are young...some have not started yet...but they should be...

Any suggestions...if i remember we have a chicken expert here

Gene,

When I first got chickens here they were the red ones from a fellow that raised them for commercial eggs. They did just like yours, one season of eggs then hardly anymore. I don't know if it was the breed just raised that way but after that I went and got chickens from folks who had good extra laying hens. I got lucky that a fellow was moving and bought the flock he had. Some of those hens became brooders and really helped to build the flock. Being we had a good rooster and a Silkie hen who would hatch any egg the flock grew quickly, gave us eggs and meat. Those red hens were nothing but skin and bones, nothing for meat so I never got any more of them.
