Hola todos, in reply to Gene's query, yes, for a marriage proposal it's: la propuesta de matrimonio.  And if she says yes, then you are compremetido.   And that's not all you are, man.  Whatcha got in mind, Gene????  A bit late for a proposal in your case, isn't it?

It might be useful here to include the word for budget, which is similar, but a masculine noun:  el presupuesto.  The verb to budget is: presupuestar.

Hi Joe,

Excellent mention of presupuesto, cuz if Gene doesn't get that foggy idea out of his head, once he becomes comprometido he'll spend the rest of his days con un presupuesto ajustado (tight budget.)  jajaja.  Did you not watch that documentary on "indecent proposal"?  That is a How-To / Follow-Me guide from step 1 to la meta (goal.)  That video shows the art of picking up chicks that hasn't been seen since the Fonzy dayz, man!  Es una misión inútil (a useless mission) to try to get an idea out of Gene's head once he's got that flea in his ear.  The lucky thing for Gene is that he's managed to stretch that pre-honeymoon glow out for 2 or 3 years now.  Besides, I once gave Gene advice about that (which he ignored) and I figure that is a once-a-life sort of thing a friend should do.  ;-)
