Thanks, Christopher!

Yes, I thought "echar" and its forms would be interesting.  I had heard most of those before, but that one about Samuel had me wondering about how that dicho came into being.  Here's my best guess, which makes all the sense in the world!  jajaja.  With regards to Rembrandt for documenting this moment!  ;-)

bathsheba_bathing.jpg

In the Bible, Samuel 11:2...  There is a passage about King David getting up one evening, presumably not able to sleep well as he had just sent Joab (his uncle and top commander of the army) out with the soldiers to attack the Ammonites.  Anyway, sleepless in Jerusalem King David wandered up to the palace rooftop, and from there spied a beautiful woman bathing on a nearby rooftop.  As kings were wont to do, he sent messengers over to find out about her.  Turns out she was the famous Bathsheba, wife of one of King David's elite soldiers.  Of course with the soldiers out working and him being the king and all, she slept with the king and became pregnant.  The crafty King David (and craftier Bathsheba?) ended up telling Joab the commander to make sure Bathsheba's husband was on the frontlines, where of course he got killed during an onslaught on a stronghold.  After an appropriate mourning period, King David brought Bathsheba into the palace and made her his wife. She bore him a son, but of course, what King David had done displeased the Lord...

And of course, can we call this a classic?  Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah

Throwing all caution to the wind, I've got a beautiful wife... and I'm a generally pretty happy guy!  jajaja.  ¡Hallelujah!

Add to that the additional cost to all the people having to go get their placas back.

I tell my wife that the government is desperate for money and we must be extra careful to keep up with all the new laws.

Hi all

Both my sister and I use these test strips and it is time now to try to locate a source here in Costa Rica who does not have the rip-off price of $1 each.

The best thing would be to order from the United States but now it appears they want some type of an import permit and something from the Department of Health just to get them into the country.

Anybody find a source here in Costa Rica or have you figured out a way to get them into the country at a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance any help would be appreciated. Tim

Hi Tim,

It might not be too terrible getting the import permit and the permission from the ministerio de salud.  Usually the permiso is only $9 and the import permit might only involve filling out a form and writing a letter... maybe including a doctor's note which should be very easy to get.  I would suggest doing all of that using one of the freight forwarders so you can buy on Amazon and ship to Miami then they take care of everything else (with a little help from you.)

Good luck!

I have been waiting for an import permit for 4 months now. The Ministerio de Salud is not issuing them. My customs broker told me that a permit issued to an individual can only be used one time.
