PS:  we do have a bunch of leaf-cutter ants outside.  and one nite an ardilla got in my casa and stole a banana, then I got the landlord to put in new window frames.  Does that count for wildlife?????

Hi Joe!  Glad you survived the attack, Gene!  jajaja.

It is actually spelled:

garrobo nm AmC (reptil centroamericano) (Ctenosaura similis)
black iguana, black spiny-tailed iguana n

At least those guys have some meat on the bone and are good eatin'.  That little
spindly snake in the shed wouldn't have even filled up my cat's belly.  Some folks
around here will fatten one up for a feast, but most just eat the tail from hunted
garrobos.  They are pretty plentiful and they are fast!  The world record sprint speed
for lizards is held by the Costa Rican garrobo at 34.6 km/h -- that's faster than a
Texas road-runner.

Locals often call any male iguana a "garrobo", but of course there are male and
female black spiny-tail iguanas (garrobos.)  In this pic the male is in the center,
with females in front and back.  These are the largest of the Spiny-tail iguanas,
the Ctenosaurs.

Yes, they do taste like chicken, although smaller ones have too high of a bone
to meat ratio for my liking.

Yeah, now I found it in el diccionario.  Damn, he's faster than the Sinaloa and Mara's we have around here.  Thanks, Gene, for accepting my humble urban offerings as "wildlife".  I feel redeemed.  But I forgot to include las bandas, and none other than the "leader" of the free world has called them animals!!!!  We got em around Chepe!!!!  You want em up there????  Pleeeeeze???
