Finally Starlink is officially available in Costa Rica.  Just a few days left though to get the 50 % discount on hardware...  Thanks go to Gene for noticing.  I had gotten tired of checking only to see the guesstimate of availability yet again be pushed out another quarter or two.

The Residential package, Starlink’s most commonly adopted plan, is priced at CRC 33,000 (~ USD 62) per month.

Hardware and shipping will cost customers another CRC 122,5000 (~ USD 232) for the Standard rectangular antenna. The hardware will be discounted by 50% until December 12th, 2023.

Looks like pricing is about 1/2 that for those in the US of A.  I saw similar discounts being applied in Guatemala earlier this year when a cruiser friend bought for his sailboat while hiding from hurricanes in Rio Dulce.  That is a cheaper MRC than I'm paying for fiber right now (¢37 mil), although we do get 100+ TV channels with our fiber Internet though Street Fiber

I'm in the planning stages of building an off-grid house and this is perfect timing!

I've heard of Costa Rican's having trouble signing up when using addresses like "200 meters south of the Catholic Church with a green gate" or "50 meters to the left of where the old tree with a yellow dog used to be". 🤣 jajaja.  Although this friend in Rio Dulce used this for his boat's address and he got his dish okay:

"Rita's place under the bridge behind Bruno's place, Rio Dulce Guatemala"

Here's what Starlink says about addresses in Costa Rica:

Shipping Address

We can't ship to PO Boxes

Please don't use Google Plus Codes

The first address line has a 35 character limit. Consider using abbreviations for street names and using all three address lines

If you do not have a home address, please include a landmark or location reference to facilitate delivery for DHL

Order must be shipped to the same country in which it was purchased

For other address issues during ordering, verify the proper format through DHL

If you need to provide alternative delivery instructions, including the option to request to hold your package at a local pick up center near you, after the product has shipped, please use DHL's On Demand Delivery Service. Click the hyperlink in the "Your shipment is on its way" notification for easy and efficient use. You can use DHL's On Demand Delivery Site for any other change to a DHL shipment.
