We chipped into the slab i have been worried about...you would not believe...is almost as if there was no cement...all was like a wet pile of sand and rocks...very little adhesion...my peon assured me he mixed as i told him...1 2 3...

We believe now...bad or old cement...

We continued to chip down to where we can see the wire in places...will pour a new top and hope for the best...

Welcome to costa rica...our last 3 slabs have finished out perfectly....and has held up to foot traffic of 450 kilo cows...

The next day . . . I pressed the remote gate opener . . . the huge metal gate cranked open and then slammed to a stop with a nasty crunching sound.  The rack attached to the bottom of the gate had somehow collapsed.  I looked left at the foot of the gate . . . the gate motor had a funny tilt to it.   I noticed our guy had been working on the concrete motor mount yesterday . . . the concrete still had a wood form around it.   I bent down to touch it.  Oh dear.  Oh dear.

Later, a very short time later . . . "Jose, did you know the new gate motor mount melted last night in the rain?  I never knew that was possible."

I want auto gate...i have inverters etc...

Maybe batterie/inverter and solar charger...where did you get yours bernie??
