Guidance on Using COSP

Dear COSP Community,

At our recent users meeting there was interest in information on how COSP has been implemented and used by various modeling centers. After some discussion, the COSP PMC realized that to address this question adequately we need to narrow the focus. Different versions of COSP have been used over the years by various models, each with their own requirements, obstacles, and peculiarities. Lessons learned from this were used when designing Version 2 of COSP, with the hope that using COSP2 would be more seamless going forward.

When coupling your model, or dataset, to COSP2, there are many scientific and technical considerations that need to be addressed. Some of these details are captured in the documentation and organization of the COSP2 GitHub repository. Recently, a new discussion on GitHub was opened for users to share their experiences using COSP. As a starting point, details on the implementation of COSP2 in CESM2 have been added.
