Offline use of COSP 2?

Dear users -
As you may know, COSP currently comes packaged with an offline driver that generates output via the CMOR software used by CMIP to make files uniform across models. In previous iterations of CFMIP we believe some people have used this capability to run COSP off-line and provide the results to the CFMIP archive.
The CMOR interface in the COSP driver was built for the last iteration of CFMIP and does not support the current (CFMIP3/CMIP6) version of CMOR. Rather than update the software we are debating a change to COSP 2 that would replace the CMOR output with more generic netCDF.
Please let us know if removing support for CMOR output in the off-line driver for COSP 2 would cause you problems.
