We remind you that the 1st pan-GASS conference will take place 10-14
September 2012 in Boulder, Colorado at the NCAR Center Green Campus. We are
happy to bring together the whole of the GASS community for our first group
meeting.
********* Key Information ****************
Meeting website: http://www.gewex.org/2012gass_conf.html
Registration website: http://www.regonline.com/FirstpanGASSWorkshop
The registration deadline is May 15, 2012.
******************************************
We have put together what we hope will be an exciting program. Mornings will
consist of plenaries covering a range subjects that span the breadth of GASS.
Afternoons will consist of breakouts where current and potential GASS
projects will be discussed as well as poster sessions. A draft agenda,
including a list of confirmed invited speakers, is available from the meeting
website, http://www.gewex.org/2012gass_conf.html.
We encourage you to register soon at
http://www.regonline.com/FirstpanGASSWorkshop. The registration deadline is
May 15, 2012. As part of the registration process, you can submit an abstract
for a presentation that you would wish to give at the meeting. You can
request either an oral or poster presentation, but we do note that oral
presentation time is limited.
There is a $180 registration fee, payable when you register, which will cover
the costs associated with the meeting. We will also hold an offsite special
event dinner on Thursday evening which will require a separate fee (approx
$75). You can express interest in attending that dinner through the
registration website.
This meeting will be sponsored by a number of agencies and through their
support we are able to defray meeting expenses for a limited number of
students or other early career scientists (within 5 years of Ph. D.). You may
apply for such support through the website if eligible. We hope senior
participants will encourage their younger colleagues to take advantage of
this opportunity.
Room blocks have been set up at two hotels in the Boulder area. Free buses
will transport meeting participants between these hotels and the meeting site
(as well as the special event dinner). More logistical information is
available from the meeting website, http://www.gewex.org/2012gass_conf.html.
In closing, we look forward to seeing you in Boulder.
Best,
Steve Klein and Jon Petch, GASS co-chairs, on behalf of the meeting
organizing committee
