We will be brewing our first batch of CosHack beer tomorrow afternoon, starting around 3:30ish. Come one, come all!

We will be brewing a Fat Tire style beer... Affectionately called "flat tire."

Wewt, cannot wait!  Do we have equipment?
I think at some point JJ mentioned having some unused stuff we could put to use?

The only thing I don't have is a wort chiller, but we can throw water in the freezer for a couple hours while we are setting up and brewing, which should get us down to the 70s for the yeast addition. If someone has a wort chiller it will make things easier, but its certainly not critical this first batch. If we do a mash down the road a chiller will be critical... but we aren't there yet. :)

I updated the calendar with the "brewclub" event - every other friday (starting today) from 3:30-5:30.  Sound O.K.?

Sounds good. The overall process is:

Week 1:brew
Week 2: transport to 2nd carboy
Week 3: bottle
Week 5: drink

However, week 2 is easy enough and doesn't really require more than one person about 15 minutes. Each batch produces around 2 cases. If we want to make more than that we can brew weekly - leaving that up to others.

anybody know how to actually taste beer? we could do like a beer tasting tutorial or something during free time.

I've drank a lot of beer, and know what I like, but I don't know how to pick apart the flavors and describe them.

Yeah - we can talk about it today and set up tastings in weeks to come.

I'm drinking a half glass (it's not even noon yet...) of Pliny the Elder in honor of your efforts today. Huzzah!

You wouldn't. That's how pabst makes it.
I don't normally go for IPA or real hoppy beverages. This one was sublime.
