Hello all,

I updated the Workshop parts list. I had an error for 3 days indicating that 3 compass were needed, only one is required. Also I'm changing the compass for the kits. The short story is the LSM303 comes in two flavors and I reverted to the original flavor used in previous workshops. For those that have the LSM303DLM for the workshop this weekend, I will provide a LSM303DLH. They are drop in replacements for each other but the performance of the LSM303DLH is more reliable, from what I have found. If anyone has used the LSM303 library with full success with the LSM303DLM, please let me know, (issue was saturation and value overflow in some cases). I had moved to the LSM303DLM due to greater availability but the LSM303DLH seems to have a good quantity now.

For those attending the workshop this weekend in Durango, everything still looks great. Looking forward to seeing you at 9am Saturday!

Thanks,
Brian

Hello everyone,

The COSGC Robotics Workshop is on Saturday Nov 17th at the CU Boulder campus starting at 9am and ending around 4pm in the Discovery Learning Center room 1B70.  I have emails for the students listed below (the Mines students), but I would like names and email address for everyone attending the workshop on Saturday.  In the event we have inclement weather, I will email everyone attending and reschedule.  I still have some space available if you haven't already registered and please forward to your students.  This is a great basic introduction to soldering, hardware, sensors, and the basics of controlling a robot.

If you haven't ordered parts, I would do so today or at latest Monday.  I have some spare parts if you are in a bind.

We had a great workshop last weekend in Durango and thanks to Charlie for hosting and Suzanne for driving from Gunnison.

There is no cost to attend, other than the cost of the "Robot in a Box" hardware kit for a team of 2-3 students.  See the Workshop website for details:

Be sure to bring the LSM303DLH (not the LSM303DLM) compass and you only need one.  Also please bring a laptop for your group with the Arduino 1.0.1 working and able to talk to an Arduino (http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/HomePage).  If you need to borrow a laptop, I can lend out a few for the workshop.

Even if you have previously indicated either you or your students wanted to attend the Boulder workshop, please confirm with names again if they are not on this list to insure I have them on the Boulder Workshop list.   I will send out a final agenda, maps and other logistics early next week to participants.

Thanks,

Brian
