We are excited to announce three open PhD positions in the field of (Auto-)ML at the LAMARR institute at TU Dortmund University, Germany.
The candidates will join the newly established group "AutoML and Optimization" that focuses on AutoML systems, benchmarking and prompt optimization for large language models, led by Matthias Feurer, or the newly established group "Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence" focusing on tabular machine learning, benchmarking, Bayesian optimization and AutoML for scientific applications, led by Katharina Eggensperger.

PS: The Lamarr Institute, one of six of Germany's major AI competence centers, is shaping a new generation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that is high performing, sustainable, trustworthy and secure to contribute to solving fundamental challenges in business and society. These positions are also embedded in the computer science department of TU Dortmund University that has a strong focus on artificial intelligence (9 professors by October) and is also one of Germany's largest Computer Science departments (30 professors by October).

We are an interdisciplinary research hub funded by the International Research Agendas (MAB) programme of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) and partnered with the Fraunhofer Society. Our focus is on verifications, explanations and control fo AI systems, with strong links to AutoML, robustness, and safety-critical applications.
We currently have open PhD, postdoctoral and senior positions. Research groups are led by internationally recognized scientists, including Przemysław Biecek and Darek Plewczyński, offering world-class supervision and collaboration opportunities (we are also looking for two team leaders who will obtain starter funding for their team).
