Order of entries in list

is the order of list important? Instead of appending new books at the end of  the list, can I just insert it at the head?

Before you insert, you need to make sure the book id is not already in
that linked list. So, starting at the head, you traverse until you
find the book id or you reach the tail. If you reach the tail and you
haven't inserted the book, so just insert it there. Problem solved.
