Startup Weekend in Corvallis

Hello,

I wanted to check in with you because you are part of the Startup Weekend Corvallis google group.

It looks like there will be over 200 Startup Weekends around the world this year. Norway is expanding Startup Weekend to include one in Oslo, Bergen and Trondhiem. There will be six in the Seattle area in 2011. There will be two this year in Portland, one already happened, another coming in the fall.

What are your interests in seeing a Startup Weekend happen in Corvallis?

If one did not happen in Corvallis, what are your interests in a travel package that took a group to a distant Startup Weekend?

Any interests either way on doing Startup Weekend?

How are you? Thanks for sending out the message and trying to get some interest going here. I think the community is missing you as the connector of all things startup.

I'd be interested in seeing a Corvallis one again. I would also consider going to Portland, I actually have been toying with the idea anyway but haven't signed up to date.

Thank you for the kind thought. If there were a place to stand that was stable in corvallis to work on Startup activities, I would look forward to doing it. At the moment, I do not see any places that are available to stand and do that work.

I would encourage you to go to Startup Weekends in Portland and in Seattle and get a sense of the different groups that are working on things. When you have projects like Zaarly , Foodspotting and Memolane getting funded right out of the events, their is something interesting they are doing that is worth understanding. A Place for Rover got funded out of the last Seattle Startup Weekend.

It is not so much the funding, but the progress that demonstrates market that was interesting.


If there is critical mass in Corvallis, we can work to have one happen. If there is no critical mass, then we can just shut down the conversation.
