Robin Fosdick at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library is organizing a "MakerSpace Event"* for this March.  She's currently making a call for makers.  Here's the flyer.

I will try to get some Eugene Maker Spacers to participate.  You guys might want to get involved too.

* I read "MakerSpace Event" as "Maker Faire that doesn't infringe O'Reilly's trademark". (-:

I am trying to put something together for the non Maker Faire, and it is great to have enough motivation to actually work instead of just buying parts and looking at them wistfully and from time to time replacing them with newer non-obsolete* parts.

I am thinking about a PIC based push button controller 4 x 4 grid of big buttons (http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/LPS-5W/12V-LIGHTED-PUSHBUTTON-WHITE-1.5-SQUARE/1.html) to connect to my Raspberry Pi. If I get it going then  I will think about what it might do if I ever get one built. Make sounds, blink lights. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monome for the inspiration

This is way outside doing Windows Forms programming all day long, hence "fun".

* I came across an i8008 in my junkbox yesterday.  It's either worthless or worth $600 depending on which eBay ad you look at.

Sounds cool, Brian.

I'm finishing a printrbot (assembled and wired. just need a cable extension for the extruder motor, so I can go to max height). Would love to show it off. Assuming it calibrates/works.
Also tempted to show off my near-complete "Phase Table" project (a DIY touch surface table, using NaturalPoint's optical tracking cameras. Just need to figure out how to program it's output as an HID driver input. so that it can pretend to be a proper windows7 multitouch input. need help finding a forum or community that understands this process. )
(and/or should just make a input DLL for a simple Unity3D game demo).

Pretty sure neither of these would be hands-on friendly for kids though.

But I'm planning to be down in San Fran the last week of March (26-30th) for the Game Developer's Conference.
So hopefully share these with yall next time. ? (i'll email Robin to check the dates).

Are there other Corvallis-tech meet ups where people share their hobby projects? besides the Beaver Bar Camp?

Eugene Maker Space's next open house is February 23rd.  (Not Corvallis, I know.)
I'd love to see either or both of your projects there.

www.eugenemakerspace.com ; don't have the open house page up yet.
