Newport Workshops and Milonga with Emma and Tyler Nov 16 and 17

        We are having  a special 3rd Saturday Traditional Milonga in Newport with  Tyler and Emma on Saturday November 16 at the South Beach Community Center, 3024 S.E. Ferry Slip Road, Newport. OR 97365.

       Tyler Haas began his tango journey in 2008, after studying many styles of dance and concluding that tango was his true passion.

     Emma James started dancing Argentine Tango in 2010 and fell in love with both tango and her dance partner, Tyler. Tyler and Emma have been teaching together since 2014 and travel world-wide in their pursuit of tango nirvana.

     They currently teach weekly lessons with Tango Aficionados of Bend as well as run a college tango program through COCC’s Continuing Education Program.

    Our Milonga schedule:
 
            6:30 - 7:30 pm:   Pre-Milonga Class with Emma & Tyler (6:30-7:30pm)

                        Intro to Argentine Tango.  Learn the building blocks for social tango. All-levels

            7:30 - 10:00 pm:  Milonga - Dancing to traditional Argentine tango music DJ'd by Rafael.
 
       Price: $8 per person

 Class 1 (1:00-2:15pm):  Molinete! Turning with Power and Grace
 Class 2 (2:30-3:45 pm):  Playing with Sacadas within the Molinete

 Pre-Milonga Class with Emma & Tyler (6:30-7:30pm): Intro to Argentine Tango.  Learn the building blocks for social tango. All-levels. $8.
   This class includes admission to the Milonga from 7:30 to 10:00PM.

Sunday, Nov 17
 Class 3 (1:00-2:15pm): Creating Smooth and Yummy Ochos
 Class 4 (2:30-3:45pm): Ganchos! Adding “The Magic”

All the classes and Milonga will be held at the South Beach Community Center, 3024 S.E. Ferry Slip Road, Newport. OR 97365.

 The workshop classes are designed for beginning to intermediate dancers but paced such that dancers of every level will benefit. All are welcome to attend with or without partners. Role-balance is not necessary

        George Foxmire is hosting a weekly Beginning Tango Class from 2 PM to 3 PM followed by a Practica from 3 PM to 5 PM at the Newport Recreation Center ($5 per person). George will also DJ the music for the Practica, which will follow the traditional pattern of Tandas and Cortinas.

---  Monthly Saturday Tango Plus event hosted by Olga from 6:30-10:00 PM
        6:30 - 7:30 PM -  Beginner's Tango Lesson hosted by George. Intro to the Plus section hosted by Bonnie Prater. You don't need a partner.
        7:30 - 10:00 PM  -  Milonga - Dancing two song tandas of Argentine tango to a mix of traditional, alternative, and non-tango songs. Full length swing, foxtrot, rumba, blues, etc. tunes between tandas. The songs can be danced to or treated as long cortinas. 
         Cost per person: Donation for rental of Community center.
