Good Morning,

<<for info on Xan, scan to the bottom.>>

In this email from Xan Augerot's campaign manager, he suggested that folks who had already identified themselves as potential canvassers for Xan invite others to join them this Saturday.  So, I'm inviting you to join me on Saturday, at noon at the Library conference room.  I'm assuming that we are going door to door placing door hangers and asking for votes.

I did this in my Ward when running for City Council.  It's a low key activity, in which you typically are only asking for support, not engaging in debate.  In my canvassing of Ward 3 folks, I found it very affirming.  Most folks are pleased that someone has take the time to come and ask for their vote.

I'm sure that the training at noon will provide enough info for you to feel comfortable in this role.  And you will be making a difference in local government.

Here are some of the roles that I remember Xan taking on.  Obviously, the one which gives her name recognition is as Executive Director of the Marys River Watershed Council.  More locally she is known as one of the founding members of the SouthTown Harvest and Resource Exchange - her front yard was often used as our produce exchange location.  She was also involved in the Resilience Network - a group of south town and beyond folks would are working to become more prepared for earthquake, climate and economic disasters.  And many of you may know her for sponsoring music events are her home and elsewhere, similar to house concerts sponsored by the Corvallis Folklore Society.

Subject: ELECT XAN: CANVASSING KICK OFF CHANGE OF LOCATION
To: I deleted email addresses.

Hi guys, so the co-op called me today and cancelled our reservation after deciding they would not let any political campaign use the rooms. Thus, I have booked the board room at the Corvallis Library. This is the Corvallis Public Library not the OSU Library.

For those who do not know the address is 1007 SE 3rd St, Corvallis, OR 97333

We will still be meeting there at 12 noon, going through a quick training and then splitting into teams and hitting the streets to spread the word about Xan. I encourage you all to be there. Bring as many people as you can!

If you cannot make it, there are still many ways to help. If you have not yet given financially to the campaign I encourage you to do that as well. We have a very nice mailing going out and printed walk-pieces for canvassing that need to be paid for.

Also, many of you have indicated that you would like to write a letter to the editor to one of the local papers to express your support of Xan. If you have not already formally indicated that, but you would be willing to write a letter; please let me know as soon as possible so we can schedule them accordingly.

Furthermore, I suggest that you all wear comfortable shoes. It isn't projected to be raining (as we all know that is hard to trust) but dress for outside.

Once again, feel free to bring anyone you want. If you come with someone specifically we can make them your teammate so you will be canvassing with them. Thank you for your time and I will hopefully see you all Saturday!

Here’s the deal: Forget that this task of planet-saving is not possible in the time required.  Don’t be put off by people who know what is not possible.  Do what needs to be done, and check to see if it was impossible only after you are done. – Paul Hawken
