to Southtown Harvest And Resource Exchange, south south corvallis
You are invited to....The Southtown Harvest and
Resource Exchange's (AKA SHARE) Produce Exchange.
History: Several years ago this grassroots event started and was sustained by many of you in the Bethel - Lilly neighborhood area. In the last handful of years, no formal events were planned. There were many goals but some of the outcomes created was increased community as your got to know your really local neighbors. In addition a bunch of garden and harvest information was shared from neighbor to neighbor. We got to know who had the endless supply of mint and bay leaves. We shared recipes and garden tips. A community potato plot emerged and folks partnered up on dry bean storage. People gave, people received.
New beginnings: Folks has expressed interest in resurrecting this group and we are offering our land as a place to make that happen. Having a limited time frame makes it so folks can attend without taking up their whole evening. The timing will flex with the group's needs.
How it works: folks show-up
with produce and garden extra's to swap. Guidelines just include bringing something to take something, unless it
zuke season and then you might be forced to take something even if you didn’t
bring anything! Ha! One week you might bring something and the next week you might not. You will find the most benefit in the sharing!
Need ideas on what to bring? extra produce, canned goods, divided plants,
mint, herbs, seeds, plant starts, unique food prepared as a sample (e.g.
rhubarb, sunchokes), seed catalogs, educational material, sprouted potatoes
, garden tools, etc
.
Look for the SHARE table at our farm stand and extra’s
will be donated to the Southtown Food bank.
