A Celebration of All Things Local:
Local Music, Local Vendors, Local Money!
All at the HOUR Exchange’s 14th Annual Spring Gathering, coming up THIS Sunday, April 19, 12-4pm, at the Old World Deli in Downtown Corvallis. Free Event. Everyone is welcome.
Free Plant and Seed Swap - Gardeners and plant lovers are encouraged to bring seeds, starts, bulbs, plants, and other items for exchange. Please come prepared with established plants and label your plants well. This event has been a favorite of many in the past and is a great start to the upcoming gardening season.
Insects! The weather is warming up and the insects are crawling, flying and wriggling. They are eating, too! Pollinators, parisitoids and leaf eaters (just to name a few) are out and about. Come to the Spring Gathering and bring any insects specimens (in a jar, dead or alive) and we will do our best to identify them. Come with your questions and curiosity; we will have reference books and our own specimens for sharing information. We will show you how to make aspirators (otherwise known as ‘bug suckers’) so you can collect insects alive. Let’s start the gardening season knowing who we are gardening with.
There will be music throughout the afternoon with performances by:
12-1pm - Evolution of the Mind – Guitar & Bass Duo
1-2pm - Honey & The Hive – Old time Blues
2-3pm - When Picks Fly – Blue grass
3-4pm - R’evelyn – Traditional folk
Activities include:
- Plant/Seed Swap Area
- Insect Identification
- Live Music
- Local Artisans and Local Goods
- See LOCAL CURRENCY in action
- Learn about the HOUR Exchange
The HOUR Exchange is a non-profit organization providing education and tools to promote ecologically sustainable, community-based economics. We build a community network that trades goods and services with the locally backed currency called HOURS.
