Join us at the South Town Market and Garden Swap! Starting Tuesday May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) @ 5pm (5, 5, 5!!) and continuing throughout the year until the not-to-be-mentioned-in-such-nice-weather seasonal changes happen.
Location: 1470 SE Alexander Ave's north yard - beside Coho (Same as last year)
What: A grass roots organized farmers market (Different than last year). Anyone who wants to sell can bring a table/canopy/etc.
What Else: The Southtown Harvest and Resource Exchange/SHARE Produce Exchange will also
manifest itself as folks show-up with produce and garden extra's to swap. Look for the SHARE table
Ideas on what to bring to the produce exchange include: extra produce, canned goods, divided plants, mint, herbs, seeds, plant starts, unique food prepared as a sample (e.g. rhubarb), seed catalogs, educational material, sprouted potatoes, garden tools, etc
.
Famous Farmers in Attendance: Both Rainshine family
Fineprint: Please plan to contribute in some way to make
this market successful. For example, show up a ½ hour early to set up, stay to clean-up or bring something to share the bounty (fruit, beverages, garden knowledge/demo, etc) Save close-by parking for visitors. Do not park on grass unless directed to. Volunteers are needed to deliver extra produce to food bank, create road signage, rope off bee hive, help direct car traffic, general land tidy up, etc. Musicians are welcome to create a jam circle.
That’s it!
Now you won't have any excuse to be bored on Tuesday evenings. And it is the perfect event to procrastinate with to avoid doing any of your own projects.
And given the reputation of our neighborhood it is guaranteed to
be fun, informative and lively!
