​Howdy neighbors and friends of Southtown!

So last week

​'​

s farm stand was a great beginning! 

​Beene farm had starts and veggies.  Our farm had tomato starts.  And several others brought small items from their homes to sell or trade. ​Almost 20 people signed up to get more info about the grass-fed, organic milk herd share. It was so fun to see this grass roots effort begin.  And the Farm Stand String Band added festive music.

This week it goes again!  5-7 pm.

​Produce Exchange: ​

This week we encourage anyone who wants to participate in the garden exchange to arrive by 6pm so that other "exchangers" can be there and meet you.  Bring something from your garden to bring to the SHARE table... Starts, produce, canned items, divisions, cuttings (eg. Mint, herbs, etc).

​Vendors Welcome: ​

All farm stand vendors are welcome to bring a table to set-up your wares.

​ if you want a canopy, bring that, too!​

  Please plan to park your vehicle down to road if you plan to stay the entire time.

As we all get back into the swing of local produce, items will change from week to week. And our layout will grow to encompass the entire bend in the road.   Come visit and lend a hand to developing this south town resource!

Join us at the South Town Market and Garden Swap!  Starting Tuesday May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) @ 5pm (5, 5, 5!!) and continuing throughout the year until the not-to-be-mentioned-in-such-nice-weather seasonal changes happen.

Location: 1470 SE Alexander Ave's north yard - beside Coho (Same as last year)

What: A grass roots organized farmers market (Different than last year).  Anyone who wants to sell can bring a table/canopy/etc. 

​ Help us to make the event best for everyone!​

What Else: The Southtown Harvest and Resource Exchange/SHARE Produce Exchange will also ​

manifest itself as folks show-up with produce and garden extra's to swap. Look for the SHARE table

​. Guidelines just include bringing something to take something, unless it zuke season and then you might be forced to take something even if you didn’t bring anything! Ha!

​

​Any extras left by the evening will be donated to the Southtown Foodbank.

 

Ideas on what to bring to the produce exchange include: extra produce, canned goods, divided plants, mint, herbs, seeds, plant starts, unique food prepared as a sample (e.g. rhubarb), seed catalogs, educational material, sprouted potatoes, garden tools, etc​

arm and Luke Beene will have produce to sell at this market. In addition, we expect a new CSA to be in attendance that provides grass fed cows milk @ 5 gallons a month. 

 

Fineprint: Please plan to contribute in some way to make ​

this market successful.  For example, show up a ½ hour early to set up, stay to clean-up or bring something to share the bounty (fruit, beverages, garden knowledge/demo, etc) Save close-by parking for visitors.  Do not park on grass unless directed to. Volunteers are needed to deliver extra produce to food bank, create road signage, rope off bee hive, help direct car traffic, general land tidy up, etc.  Musicians are welcome to create a jam circle. 

​ Educators are welcome to bring demo​

​/samples/how-to sheets, etc. ​

Please mind your dogs as there are bound to be many. Bring chairs to enjoy the evening through 7pm.

​Bring canopies if raining.​
