Hi fellow Corvallis NPSO members!

I've been collaborating with a landscape designer near Portland to develop a survey to summarize the experiences of native plant gardeners, and we need some testers before we release the final version.  The survey will go out to recipients primarily in the PNW, but also nationwide.  If you have replaced some of your yard with natives, would you be willing to give this survey a spin so we can see how it works? And if you have feedback for us, let us know how we might tweak it further?   Would love to get your responses and feedback by next week (Nov. 26), if possible.  The 20-question survey should need about 10 minutes, give or take.  Thank you!

We invite you to share your experience gardening with native plants (often called naturescaping or meadowscaping), in order to help new and experienced gardeners have more success with their projects. This landscape design approach promotes coexistence of people and nature by integrating native plants, pollinators, and wildlife-friendly features, benefiting local ecosystems and reducing negative environmental impacts.

This survey, which is being distributed in North America, invites you to share what went well and what could be improved with your native plant gardening efforts. Questions relate to what methods you used, technical assistance and resources used (or needed), observed results, satisfaction with outcome, neighbors’ response, and more.

Thank you for taking the time to respond and share your experience! It should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. The results will help us and others improve the process and outcomes of gardening for nature. By completing the survey, you will help others who are embarking on gardening projects aimed at promoting habitat for pollinators and wildlife achieve a more successful outcome. A summary of this survey along with recommendations for native plant gardeners and organizations will be distributed in early 2026 and posted on the Institute for Applied Ecology and Design Native Northwest websites.
