All,

As you may recall, last legislative session there were two bills calling for a Constitutional convention, one from Wolf PAC (HJM 2) and Oregon MTA (HJM 4).  During the HJM 2 hearing in the Rules Committee several MTA folks from around the state pointed out the specificity of HJM 2 (it included MTA's 2 pillars) was much preferable than the general statements within HJM 2.  The hearing ended with the MTA and Wolf PAC folks being directed to come up with compromise language, which we did.

Unfortunately, the 2015 session ended without the compromise language, amended HJM 2 coming to a vote!

In February 2016, the short session of the legislature convenes.  Now we, Wolf PAC and MTA folks, are in the process of getting sponsors for our compromise language that is attached. Note that the highlighted phrases are those added in compromise.

To show the broad support that there is in the state both Wolf PAC and MTA are asking their supporters to endorse the letter to Representative Val Hoyle below.  She is the most likely person to introduce the compromise language this session.

If you feel you can support Oregon MTA in our office visit to Rep Hoyle, and others, either reply to this email, or add you name to the Google Doc at the following location:

Click or copy it into your browser and add you name to it.........then just X-out of the page (close it).....

We are meeting with her Tuesday morning, so time is of the essence if you feel you can endorse this letter and the compromise language.

Thank you,

Bob Ozretich,

for the Oregon MTA lobbying group

Dear Representative Hoyle,

As volunteers, advocates, and concerned citizens of Oregon, we of Wolf PAC and Move to Amend stand as one against the overwhelming influence of money in politics.

The damage done to our democracy by the growing power of corporations and other entities in our elections and governance can no longer be ignored.

While we can't all be here with you at the meeting, we want to extend our gratitude to you for taking the time to talk with us.  In addition we, the undersigned, respectfully call on you and your colleagues of the Oregon legislature to take this meaningful stand with us by introducing and passing during the 2016 legislative session our bill to overturn Citizens United and related Supreme Court rulings that have led to corporations having Constitutional rights of people.
