If you are really interested in doing something as part of a community, consider joining the local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Work together with your neighbors to help make the community more resilient to emergencies.

One can learn more about the NYC CERT program from the following website:
http://www.nyc.gov/html/oem/html/cert/cert.shtml

Team membership is free (aside from your investment of time) and the training is free. The next ten-week training course to be given by NYC OEM in Brooklyn will commence on Wednesday March 9, 2011 and run through May 18, 2011. Classes are given in the evenings from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM. In order for you to take the course, your name must be forwarded to NYC OEM by the local CERT team.

If you are interested in joining the local team, contact:
Glenn Wolin, Team Chief, at glenn...@mac.com
