Greetings,

I am part of an organization called the Social Enterprise Alliance which is made up of non-profits that have a for-profit arm. Here is their October Newsletter. I will be sending more information out about SEA and also another group called npSocialEnterprise. Additionally, I will be send you guys some stuff about the L3C and "B" corporation structures for enterprises that intend to fulfill a social mission and be low-profit.

SEA launces two new chapters in Tampa and Los Angeles

Los Angeles and Tampa Bay are two of the newest cities to join the SEA Chapter community. The new chapters will host learning opportunities among social enterprises, foundations, lenders, educators and service providers to develop revenue-generating strategies that harness the power of the markets to achieve social missions. L.A. and Tampa Bay are just two of several national "hotspots" of social enterprise in which SEA seeks to create networks. Read More



Lex Mundi to give qualifying SEA members pro bono legal services
 
SEA has entered into a partnership with the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation to connect qualifying SEA members with top-notch pro bono legal assistance. The Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation, a nonprofit affiliate of Lex Mundi, is dedicated to supporting social entrepreneurs, innovators, and enterprises by calling upon Lex Mundi’s unique global network of 160 commercial law firms to provide legal assistance on a pro bono basis to qualifying social enterprises. Legal advice is one of the most critical elements of support that social enterprises need to achieve lasting and scalable success.  A partnership between Lex Mundi and SEA will effectively match legal needs with legal experts, supporting the growth of a vibrant social enterprise sector in North America. For more information on how to apply for pro bono legal assistance through this new partnership, please contact SEA President and CEO, Lisa Nitze.
