1. Hm, ok.
2. Try to turn all the sounds/music off in the top bar (move mouse to top
of screen), and then turn it on again.

Have you had music earlier?

Hint for sound troubleshooting : do not use the HDMI sound directly of the
graphicscard it will not work, select youre normal soundcard like ac97,
soundblaster, etc, and the sound works wel.

Thanks to the Corsix team for making this game work on windows 7 64bit.
Youres is MUTCH better then the EA crap i both (release of 2005).

Hi, I've just recently downloaded the version 0.01 and I found out there's
no sounds. (No announcements, no sounds when I build / buy stuff / rotate
things / hire / sack / heal / kill)

Would love it if someone could really help me out with a step by step walk
through on how to get it back? Please, I've been hunting high and low for
this!

Music works great, just sounds. Please help!

Hm. Have you tried to disable all sounds and then enable them?

Move your mouse to the top of the screen and you will see a bar appear.
There you will find sound options for Sound, Announcements and Music.

Yes, yes I have tried disabling all sounds then enabling them. Sounds,
musics, announcements. I've tweaked the volume
to a maximum but still I'm getting nothing.

Also, my handymen tends to get stuck on the first level and I can't seem to
hire anyone in the second level. Any ideas?

I can't figure out what is wrong with your sound, but the handymen got a
makeover last week.
Take a look at r1588 and r1591
So just download latest patch to try it:
http://th.corsix.org/corsix-th-latest-win32.zip
(extract into your CTH folder).

And about the hiring in level 2, can you supply a save game so we can test?

it's a windows issue with one of the library files. (vista and win 7 from
memory)

There is already a work around here somewhere or might have been the
forum. It was something like using mp3 files instead, try issue 259

Hi there,

Figured I really didn't want to spam the thread page. Is there a way that
you can give me a proper walkthrough on how to fix this?
I've read through issue 159 and all you said is to change something to mp3
and put it in some config and remove some lines but I don't get what you've
explained/

For someone not very tech savvy this is quite a problem. Would be great if
you can help me out.

Thanks.

I see no connection with issue 259. I just tried the latest snapshot
(http://th.corsix.org/corsix-th-latest.html) and the sound still works
there for me.

Using Windows 7 64-bit.

You do mean that there are absolutely no sounds at all right? Not even when
clicking a button?

What language do you use? In the original TH folder you have somewhere,
check the folder "SOUNDS", what files and folders are there?

Not when clicking buttons, building rooms, hiring or firing, not when
killing or saving patients, I don't get announcements. I've tweaked with
all the buttons available and there's just nothing. Only the music, no
sounds.

I've attached a print screen of what I see in the "SOUNDS" folder.
Hopefully it helps.

Aha, so you have music... And if you check inside the DATA folder there,
what is in it?

Aha! There is the problem. You have a faulty Theme Hospital
version/installation. Please try reinstalling it.

It should contain the sounds in a file called "SOUND-X.DAT" where X is a
number from 0 to 5 depending on language.

Is issue 259 still an issue then? Up until September last year if you were
using win 7 or vista you could not get sound effects and music at the same
time - which is what I thought was the problem for lamyunqan - unless you
used mp3's for the music. If that is no longer an issue it should perhaps
be close....

I've only recently came across Corsix TH so I'm unaware of any other
matters. I'm sorry.

And thanks again, Edvin. You've saved my gameplay experience! :)

Issue 259 is that you can't turn just music off, you either have both sound
effects and music, or none of them.

@ Edvin
Perhaps there was another issue then that has since been closed or I just
can't see it at the moment. It was something that I had an issue with in
that you could not get sound effects and music at the same time - this
turned out to be down to win 7 and sdl mixer.
If you turned off music you could hear sound effects and once you turned
the music on you couldn't hear them. Some of the comments in 257 are very
similar, which is what made me think it was that one.
By sound effects I mean machine noices, toilet noises, coins drop with
vending and puking etc
