I've been reading The Eighth Time's the Charm: The Murder of Stanley Guy Willetts, an interesting little book by Ted Panaretos wherein mention is made several times to the murder of our beloved Henry Normile. Henry was assassinated on Saturday, 27 January, 1979; and five days later Stanley Guy Willetts was assassinated outside the Soup Kitchen Saloon.
At the time, and throughout the trial of Jack Kiley during the following summer, I believed there was a common thread between the two murders. Certainly, one common thread was that the city of Detroit wanted to quash all mention of these killings before the 1980 Republican convention came to town -- one reason that Henry's assassination was investigated hardly at all -- but I believe to this day there were other links as well.
At any rate, I've been reading Panaretos' book for the third time looking for clues...
