to Corridors '17 Phase II
Within this presentation, I will be discussing how memes are already used and how they may be used within the (first year composition) classroom. I
will use Patrick Davison’s definition of a meme: “a piece of culture, typically
a joke, which gains influence through online transmission” (122). More specifically,
I will only be examining image-type memes (I'll be providing many examples within my presentation!). After my talk, I hope to discuss how the audience has used memes/visuals within their own classes or how their instructors have used them, and perhaps create different ways to use them.
