In the spirit of the forthcoming collection Bad Ideas About Writing, this session will provide attendees space to confront any “bad ideas” about teaching developmental writing that they’ve heard of, experienced, or used themselves – and to think of ways to change them or create alternative approaches that better-serve students who enroll in developmental writing courses.

This session is intended to be an open discussion about our teaching practices with the goal of leaving with some concrete ideas to take back to our classrooms and our students. We'll get "real real" about teaching, so be ready to "go there." Bring your challenges, your changes, your victories, your problems, your solutions, your mysteries, your David-Lynch-level-confusion(s), and anything else you wanna share about teaching writing (specifically to students in developmental writing classes but, hey, you're all welcome).
