"A person who goes after pleasures can never earn Vidya or education or knowledge. One who goes after wisdom and knowledge leaves all the pleasures. That is the difference between a Vishayarthi and a Vidyarthi – a man or a boy who goes after pleasures and one who goes after wisdom."

Easter holidays or Holydays?

When Swami was returning from a devotees's place in Portsmouth in U.K. to Chigwell in London, there was considerable traffic on the road, looking at which He asked the devotee driver as to what was the reason for so many cars on the road.

The devotee humbly submitted, "Swami this is due to the Easter Holidays that people are going out of town for a vacation, due to the long weekend."

Swami seemed puzzled and told me, "I thought days leading up to Easter are Holy days and not holidays. The time when everyone needs to contemplate on the life and teachings of the Master and resolve to follow them in daily life. But instead, seems like people are all out to celebrate the event with a pleasure vacation out of the city."

During the discourse the next day in the public Satsang Swami reiterated that point and said, "Easter Holy days now are more significant than ever before, for the message of ISA (Jesus) is the same as the message of SAI, and both the Masters have given up their lives for the emancipation of humanity. This time is most sacred and must be spent as HOLY days in remembrance and following of the teachings of both the Masters. It will only be very unfortunate if it is whiled away as holidays, forgetting the very purpose of their sacrifices."

Definitely, this Easter is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the selfless life that our Master lead and is still leading for our sake. He gave up His all, so that we lead happier lives.

Let Him resurrect yet again as the divine within, and without.

Amen!

DIVINE VISIT
GERMANY
APRIL 09, 2017 - MORNING

The morning was abuzz with last minute preparations for the first European Sai Youth Meet, as youth from 18 countries had gathered in Grafrath. Bhagawan was received with the ceremonial Poorna Kumbham by the youth. Flag bearers from all the 18 countries led Bhagawan to the dias. Few songs were offered at the Lord’s Feet by youth, thereafter Brother Jai Mexis from Greece welcomed the gathering. Bhagawan had lovingly given the theme for the Youth Meet as ‘I to We to He.’ Brother Jai spoke eloquently about the glorious ongoing mission and the role of youth in the same. Sister Shanti Snijders from Netherlands and Brother Mario from Italy thereafter spoke about their personal transformation over the last couple of years, and how they had seen visible changes in themselves by practising what Swami has been saying.

Swami then commanded Sister Bhuvana Santhanam and Brother Sumeet Tappoo to speak. Sister Bhuvana spoke about following one’s heart and doing everything from the heart. She narrated couple of instances from her life. She stressed on how Swami is depending on the youth to take forward His mission. “Swami says that the baton has been handed over to the youth to participate, and youth have to run faster.” Taking the examples of Sri Narasimha Murthy and Sri Sreenivas who have completely dedicated their lives for Swami’s mission, she reminded everyone that the mission has come...

DIVINE VISIT
GERMANY
APRIL 09, 2017 - EVENING

The final session of the European Sai Youth Meet was held in the afternoon, and once again Swami was welcomed amidst Vedic chants and the traditional Poorna Kumbham. During the Questions and Answers session in the morning, a young 18-year-old boy had asked a question to Swami, who was very happy that at this very young age he has taken to the right path. Swami commanded young Daniel to speak in the afternoon, who spoke about how he started doing Seva from the age of twelve. He vividly narrated some instances of Seva activities, engaging in which had brought him a tremendous sense of fulfillment, and transformation.

Sri C Sreenivas addressed the youth thereafter and said, “It was not for nothing that a timeless statement was made that genius is only one per cent inspiration. We are all tremendously inspired. We have been tremendously moved. The energy which is so palpable has risen several notches. We are like horses let free waiting to run the race of our lives. But that is as far as inspiration goes which is so vital to begin the journey.” He urged the youth for a call to action, and said, “Swami wrote – in Sathyam Shivam Sundaram which it is recorded – ‘Live by an ideal. Let every breath that you take be the breath that breathes that ideal. Let every waking moment be a moment of conscious reflection....

DIVINE VISIT
LONDON
APRIL 10, 2017

Since it was the last breakfast for Swami in Germany during this visit, devotees had lovingly prepared many dishes to His liking. As they entered Swami’s room and placed everything in front of Him, Swami said, “God does not need all these services. But it is a tradition in India that we don’t consider God as just a statue. God is considered to be living, and from morning to evening there are sixteen kinds of services which are offered to God, right from waking Him, giving Him a bath, dressing Him, entertaining Him, offering food, putting Him to rest in the afternoon, waking Him again, offering snacks, offering Puja and Archana in the evening, entertain God with songs, dance and literature, offering food and finally putting Him to sleep and the likes. A temple undertakes these activities, believing that God is real and living. This may not be a temple, but the rituals are the same, so this is also a worship. Swami doesn’t need the food, but the love, which purifies the devotees. Somebody is cooking, cleaning, preparing, serving and through all these activities you are thinking of God constantly. This purifies the person.” A great reminder....

DIVINE VISIT
DARSHAM, SUFFOLK, UK
APRIL 11, 2017 - MORNING

For the next three days, a mini van would be the mode of travel for the entourage while Swami would be driven around by devotees. Swami had decided to bless homes of many devotees by literally zigzagging the UK. After breakfast, Swami proceeded to Suffolk, to Sai Grace Ashram. A couple of service breaks, and everyone arrived at Sai Grace around noon. Swami was lovingly welcomed by Rev Leonora van Gils, an Inter Faith Minister who had offered her home for Swami’s Ashram.

As Swami arrived, He walked in straight to the Meditation and Puja room and blessed everyone gathered with His benevolent words. Swami started by saying, “From the beginning Akasa (space) was there, and from this ether came the sound. From sound came the wind. Vayuragnih, from there came the fire, Agnirapah, from there water. From water, Earth. Like this in this sequence the creation happened. So sound is one of the closest to God. That’s why sound is considered as God, and men and women who have been given this opportunity to use the sound through words, through speech must be very very cautious because it is God’s gift bestowed upon only human beings to be able to sing His glory, to be able to chant His name, and hence should be used well. Sound is primordial. You see, it is a vibration. It can reach...

APRIL 11, 2017 - EVENING

A short five minutes drive from Sai Grace, in the midst of acres of lush green land was the Satsang venue, The High Lodge. Colourful pheasants running along the way seemed to be reflecting the magnificent sky, with its myriad hues of the setting sun. Over 150 people had gathered, and Swami entered the venue amidst soulful Bhajans offered by the Sai youth. Rev Leonora welcomed Bhagawan and all the devotees, and expressed her deep love and gratitude to Him. The evening began with a musical offering by Ms Sonja Venturi from Italy and Mr Dimitris Lambrianos. Her soulful singing combined with the divine musical prowess of Mr Dimitris elevated the energy levels many notches higher.

Mr Issac Tigrett, the first speaker of the evening joined Swami’s entourage in London. It was indeed joyful hearing him speak after many months. He expressed his happiness to be back and join the entourage for the upcoming visits, and reiterated Swami’s message ‘All are One’ as he said, “One of the most important things of all is to really understand this collective consciousness which is what Swami has been saying over and over again ‘All is one’, there are no individuals. I look at this crowd: it is like this...

DIVINE VISIT
LEICESTER AND WIMBLEDON, UK
APRIL 12, 2017

Indian breakfast was served to the Lord with much devotion and adoration by the devotees at Sai Grace. Swami blessed Rev Leonara and a few others with a precious interview, and thereafter Arati was offered to Swami before He and His entourage departed to Leicester, to the residence of Dr Niraj and Dr Shruthi. As soon as Swami reached their residence, He walked around the entire house, blessing every space. A mix of North Indian and Kerala dishes were served to Swami. After a sumptuous lunch, Mangala Arati was offered, and Swami proceeded to the residence of Sri Deepak Mehta in Wimbledon.

Bhagawan and His entourage reached around 7 p.m. at the Mehta residence, and the Lord went straight up to His room. He was overjoyed looking at His tastefully done room, newly built, with a beautiful view of the cricket pitch. It is indeed endearing to the see this love of the devotees...

DIVINE VISIT
WIMBLEDON AND PORTSMOUTH, UK
APRIL 13, 2017

After Mangala Arati at the Mehta residence, Swami proceeded to the residence of Sri Rajasingam and his devout wife Smt Vasanthy. Swami was welcomed in a traditional way, and Sri Rajasingam did foot-washing tradition on that day –  Maundy Thursday, marking the Last Supper of Lord Jesus Christ – undertaken by the Church. Swami distributed chocolate coins which is also a Royal Maundy Thursday tradition, where the Queen gives silver ‘Maundy Money’ to those who have served the country. Even this year, on the same day the Queen gives Maundy money to 182 recipients, chosen in recognition of the service they have provided to the community and church. Then breakfast was served, while Swami spent some wonderful moments with the family. After Arati and blessing everyone, Swami and His entourage departed for Portsmouth to the residence of Sister Nila Murday.

Swami was received with the traditional Poorna Kumbham, and over 75 devotees had gathered at the residence. It was cozy and intimate, and one could feel the love for Swami everywhere in every little aspect. Bhajans were in progress, and thereafter a few soulful songs specially prepared for the Lord, were offered at His divine Lotus Feet. Swami then commanded Sister Nila to address everyone and she was reduced to tears. She expressed her love and gratitude to Swami, and thanked Him profusely for His unseen hand in the preparations.

Swami commanded Mr Isaac Tigrett to speak, and He stressed on Swami’s message that ‘All are one’. He said, “Swami wrote me a letter not long ago and He said the world is suffering....

DIVINE VISIT
CHIGWELL, UK
APRIL 14, 2017

It was ‘Good’ Friday but for us it was truly a ‘God’ Friday, and everyone woke up with a sense of adoration to the Lord for all that He does! He has come back (well He didn’t go anywhere) in this mind boggling phenomenon, which many find it difficult to understand. But it is purely because of His compassion and mercy, that some are able to fathom this phase of the glorious Sai Avatar!

After breakfast, Swami granted a couple of interviews to devotees, while everyone else was busy in preparation of the Public Satsang in the evening, which was to be held at the Nagrecha Hall, a 20 minutes drive from the Malhotra residence which now has been rechristened by Swami as, ‘ Sai Prema’.

Lunch was served to Swami, and after a brief rest, He proceeded to the Satsang venue. Swami was welcomed ceremoniously, amidst Veda chanting and Bhajans. Over 600 people were gathered to bask in His love. Emotions and the energy levels heightened, and as Swami walked into the hall, He spoke a word here, blessed someone with vibuthi there, consoled yet another and reassured many hearts. To step back a moment, Swami is not visible (though He is to many!) but the same love, the same energy and the same presence is felt undoubtedly! Otherwise why would so many people, the young and old, the educated and wise, the old devotees and new ones continue to participate in Satsangs, and....

DIVINE VISIT
LONDON
APRIL 15, 2017

A flurry of activities welcomed everyone in the morning at the Malhotra residence, as the Sai Youth of U.K. were slowly trickling in, and others were making arrangements for the Youth Meet that morning. It was also the last day of the long 16-day five country trip.

Swami came down to the living room where all the youth were gathered around 10:30 a.m. Soulful songs were offered at Bhagawan's Lotus Feet including the melodious meaningful song, Amazing Grace from the Church of Assisi. Soon after the song, Swami commanded that this song should become the anthem for the Sai Youth in the U.K. and every time they meet, they must sing this song together. Ms Saima Rajasingam welcomed the gathering, and offered her prayerful gratitude to Bhagawan, as He wanted to meet the youth. Five youngsters spoke their heart out, which left not a dry eye in the room! Last year Swami had commanded the Sai youth of UK to engage in service of the elderly. These five youth, the youngest being an 18-year-old, spoke about their internal transformation, and the joy of serving the neglected elderly, which is a huge problem in the UK. Swami was very pleased with their talks, and commented, "They know everything, what else can I say?" He then commanded Sri C Sreenivas to talk to the youth, who emphatically submitted to them not to doubt themselves even for a moment, as they engage in these acts of service however insignificant they may be. He said, "The beauty about service which Swami has inducted you into and now you are taking it further, is by meeting one person who till yesterday was a non existent name or face, the whole world opens....
