Job Role: iSeries QA Lead

Location: Issaquah, WA (Onsite from Day One)

Role Type: Long-Term Contract

W2 : All Visa 

C2C Agency : H1B only 

Role Overview

As the iSeries QA Lead, you will drive the end-to-end testing strategy for applications running in an IBM i (AS/400) RPG environment. You will be responsible for leading the test lifecycle, from requirement analysis and estimation to defect management and final sign-off. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep knowledge of green-screen testing and modern QA methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Planning: Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and scripts for functional, integration, system, and E2E testing.
  • iSeries Expertise: Validate complex business logic within an RPG/DB2 environment, including batch job monitoring and data verification.
  • Lead & Mentor: Oversee the work of junior QA analysts, conduct code/test reviews, and manage resource scheduling and project estimates.
  • Defect Management: Lead the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process and work closely with Development and DevOps teams to resolve issues.
  • Traceability: Maintain the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) to ensure 100% coverage of user stories and features.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Track and report on key KPIs including defect leakage, acceptance ratios, and test execution productivity.

Technical Requirements

  • Core Platform: 3+ years of specialized experience testing in an iSeries (AS/400) environment with RPG logic.
  • Database: Strong ability to write complex SQL queries (table joins) on DB2, Oracle, or MS SQL Server.
  • Tooling: Proficiency in HP ALM (Quality Center) or similar industry-standard SQA tools.
  • Methodology: Expert knowledge of Agile/Scrum and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Environment: Experience with Cloud-based testing, UI testing, and N-tier client/server architecture.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Test Automation frameworks and performance testing.
  • Solid understanding of build tools and software configuration management (DevOps).
  • Experience in RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and preventive measure reporting.

Soft Skills

  • Leadership: Ability to mentor others and handle weekly stakeholder governance calls.
  • Problem Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills with a "self-starter" mindset.
  • Communication: Ability to translate technical iSeries issues into clear business risks for stakeholders.
