Set in a virtual Las Vegas casino, players create profiles and are given a set amount of virtual money. A player can then visit any part of the virtual casino and wager their virtual money as they could in a real casino. A related business simulation game called Hoyle Casino Empire was released in 2002.[1]

The game offers instant access to the rules for each game, as well as real time tips and strategies as the player plays a game. Hoyle Casino features 25 default characters to choose from, or players can simply create their own unique custom character.

The 2007 version of Hoyle Casino was plagued by a bug in the cards game. A player would place a bet, and then the game would freeze for 30 seconds before continuing. Encore was not able to fix this bug. Customers' only recourse was to visit the Encore USA website and submit a refund request for the software. This bug was fixed in Hoyle Casino 2008.[citation needed]

Hey, gho. Thank you so much for your time for us, I tried everything step by step since the beginning of this discussion but it didn't work, and with the latest version of DXWnd and in GDI mode it worked perfectly on Windows 10. Thank you a lot

Hey Carlos Hernandez. I just bought Casino Empire and could not start it (it turns purple after the trailer and is only on the left site of the screen). Can you tell me how to run it on Windows 10 ? I dont know anything about Computers, can you explain it to me even thoguh i am an pc-idiot ??

I can't explain everything in detail here, so please try and just in case and tell me where you get some difficulty.
In case of additional troubles, read the tutorial about how to grab logs and post some logfile here.
Enjoy!

Hello Ghotik, thank you for answering me.
I did all steps, now when i run the game i see the loading screen ( the one with the sphinx) then the scrren dissapears and the game shuts down and nothing happens.

Edit: i uploded logs again after reading the help file i think they should be correct now (but it is a huge text, is this normal ?:) It says something like "Checkfullscreen" in the logs, dont know what that tells me xD

I have been trying different setting in DXWnd under "modify" now for three hours. I think i wont find the correct solution by accident. I know you are very busy, but if you find the time i would really appreciate your help :)

Peter, some details in the logfile make me think that you may be using the original game executable. The game is copy protected by an unsupported protection on recent operating systems, so there's no way you could run the game on Win10 even if you own and use an original CD. But in such cases it is possible to use a cracked executable, and the operation (if you own the original CD) is perfectly legal.
So I'm attaching here two files (to uncompress on yur hard disk):
1) an alternative configuration for the game that uses a better and more robust hooking schema: import and fix the configuration in "Hoyle Casino Empire.dxw"
2) the cracked executable, save the original file first!

Can you give a little more detail on what is meant by "import and fix the configuration"? I I have followed the instructions on pages 2 and 3, but am confronted with a message about a missing mss32.dll file: "The code execution cannot proceed because mss32.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." This happens when I try to run HCE within DXWnd, where the path is to the file that I took out of Casino Empire.rar in this specific comment reply thread. This is also true using the original HCE dxw or the modified one in this thread. I apologize in advance for what is certainly extreme computer illiteracy on my part.

To be overly detailed:
1) download latest DxWnd release (currently us v2.03.37) from sourceforge portal. Latest release is the default download, so you don't have to search for it.
Yes, I used v2.04.99.
2) unpack the v2_03_37_build.rar file in a folder where you like
Yes, done.
3) check that DxWnd.exe had administrator's capabilities
Yes.
4) run DxWnd.exe
Yes, done.
5) run the "File->Import ..." menu command: this will open a file selection dialog
Yes, done.
6) search for the file "Hoyle Casino Empire" located in the "export" subfolder of the DxWnd installation directory
Yes, done. Also done with the HCE dxw file that you posted for Peter.
7) click on that file and on the "Open" button: this will breing the game in the DxWnd main window
Yes, done.
8) Now very likely the game will have a white circle at the left, meaning that the game is not found in the file system
I don't think I have the circle. It was more of a black and white logo that I couldn't quite read. I followed the next steps anyway.
9) In this case, right-click on the "Hoyle Casino Empire" game entry and select "Modify"
Yes, done.
10) in the dialog box that will be opened, click on the button labeled "..." to the right of the "Path" field: this will open another file selection dialog box. Here you'll have to select the actual pathname for the CasinoEmpire.exe file, according to where you installed this game on your pc.
As a Windows 10 user, I tried installing and uninstalling and reinstalling the game prior to finding this thread. Reinstalling didn't work (error 1603, move file error), so I'm going with the cracked executable that you posted for Peter.
11) Now click OK, double click on the game entry and enjoy the game: is it working?
No. Missing mss32.dll.

mss32.dll is a dll responsible for sound (mss stands for Miles sound system) and it is not managed by DxWnd. What happened is probably that the game installer failed installing this dll on the system, so the game complains.
You should download this dll (beware: there are I think 17 different releases and they have non compatible interfaces!) and copy it to the game folder.
To give you some better help, I packed and uploaded here the dll that I found in my game folder. You could try with this one first ....

That's really odd.
I checked the mss32.dll file I sent you: a dll load can fail either because the dll is missing or because the dll doesn't satisy one of its dependencies, but this mss32.dll only depends on system libraries that you can't possibly miss (kernel32.dll, user32.dll and winmm.dll).
I wonder if the culprit could be some inappropriate shim or compatibility setting. Since the game doesn't work, you risk nothing: try to check the program properties to see if there's some compatibility mode. To clear shims you could try to copy the game executable giving it a new name and hook this new file.
It's difficult for me to tell more from here ...

Hi, reviving this again as I'm fairly desperate to get this good old gem working again! I'm getting the exact same graphical glitch and compression to the left thing that has been described (Win 10). I tried downloading DXWnd and used the .DWX files and the cracked .EXE above, but unfortunately I'm getting an error message that hasn't been described here; it says "DXWND: ERROR can't locate itself". Does anyone know what to do about this? Oo Thanks in advance!

DxWnd in some cases has to locate where it is located (that's not obvious, if you're running as part of the controlled game and search for the GUI folder) and does that by asking for the path of dxwnd.dll. Since the operation is made by dxwnd.dll, it is supposed to never fail. There must be some weird circumstance that prevent this to happen. I would check for the DxWnd permissions and those of the folder where you installed it, maybe there's something unusual...

p.s. a similar message could appear if you ask for a missing filter. Are you using filters in the DirectX tab? I can't find the exact message anywhere in the source code. May I see some logs and a screenshot?

Hi, thanks so much for the quicxk answer! :D I've made a bunch of screenshots. I'm not a tech savant, but I tried to show as much relevant stuff as possible. I don't know how to look up logs, though.

1) the DxWnd is not supposed to be installed in the same folder with the game. I never tried it this way, I'm not sure it could be a problem, but in any case ...
2) bigger issue, your DxWnd release is quite outdated, the new releases are nicer (though someone may not agree) and fit the recently updated export files.

Thank you very much kind sir, that worked a treat! I don't think it was the file location, because when I installed it in a different place that didn't fix it, but the new version did. Thanks a bunch mate! :D

hello! i know this might be a faded thread but basically i am having the same issues as everyone else, i have downloaded all the links you have posted but im just not tech enough to make anything from them, are you able to commit anymore of your time to this Gho? id be very very greatful!!

Uhmm.... in theory, if I didn't make something wrong, things shouldn't be that complicated. Most of this long thread describes attempts that were made and brought in newer DxWnd releases, so that the only thing that you should do is the following:
1) download latest DxWnd release
2) import the "Hoyle casino empire.dxw" file that comes with the DxWnd bunde in the "exports" folder, that oneshould be up to date
3) modify the game path in DxWnd configuration to point to where you installed your copy of the game
4) try it and report here if there are any troubles.

To be specific, I'm able to get the game to run in windowed run using this program. However, I prefer fullscreen and would like to get it working in that mode if possible. I get multiple issues depending on how I choose to run the game. If I run the game directly from the executional in its installation folder, the intro runs fine in fullscreen, but then the main menu shows the green/purple warped screen glitch. If I run it in DxWnd using the fullscreen version, I get the glitch where I can hear everything but the screen is black.
