we are thrilled to invite you to "Architecture and Abstraction," an event hosted by the Columbia University Institute for Ideas & Imagination in collaboration with l’École Spéciale d’Architecture on February 20, 2025 in Paris.
This event will feature an engaging discussion between Pier Vittorio Aureli, renowned architect, educator, and director of the Institute of Architecture at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and Jana Ndiaye Berankova, fellow this year at the Institute, accomplished theorist, philosopher, and publisher (Suture Press). Together, they will explore pressing questions in architectural theory and practice.
The discussion will draw on Pier Vittorio Aureli’s latest book, Architecture and Abstraction (MIT Press, 2023), which reexamines abstraction in architecture through the lens of material conditions and Marxist-oriented criticism. Expect a thought-provoking dialogue that addresses the intersections of architecture, labor, and society.
