Logio, MD" <lil...@med.cornell.edu>Dear Housestaff:Due to the impending hit of Hurricane Sandy, the hospital has activated the Emergency Plan for the hospital. This means that all housestaff and fellows are expected to be available to help with the increased needs of managing the hospital in the next few days.· If you are assigned to an inpatient or ICU rotation, you are expected to remain available (on/near campus) for the foreseeable future.· If your are currently on an outpatient or elective rotation or are scheduled for vacation, you are expected to report to the Department of Medicine Library (M-529) at 7 AM daily to receive your assignment for the day.· Any of you who live off campus and/or use mass transit, tunnels or bridges to get to work, please make every safe and reasonable effort to get to campus today, pack a bag, and plan on staying on campus for a few days. If there are circumstances that preclude you from arriving to the hospital before 7 PM tonight, please let Lee Shearer or myself know as soon as possible.· The hospital is asking to identify any patients that are eligible to go home and to discharge them as soon as possible so that we can make room for what will come.We realize there continues to be much uncertainty about what will unfold in the next few days. We expect the bulk of the storm to hit between 4 PM tomorrow and 8 PM Tuesday. The Emergency Plan is being activated now so that we can be prepared. As always, please put patient care first. We will work together to get through this. As you know, ACGME rules are suspended while in the Emergency Plan.Lee Shearer can be reached by cell (646)320-4431. Brian Eiss can be reached by cell (646)592-3368. I can be reached by cell (646)483-2076.Stay tuned.LLLia S. Logio, MDHerbert J. and Ann L.
