NEWSYLETTER #49

Hey, Folkies, Fans, Press Peoples, and anyone else who gets this,

We’re going to be in Binghamton on Saturday, Oct. 15.  We’ll be doing the Cranberry Coffeehouse at the Unitarian Church for the first time in a while.  We’ve been there several times, though, and we know it’ll be lots of fun, and that people will sing with us, which is very fine.

By the way, there’s a middle set where anyone who wants to can sing a song, do a recitation, etc.  Some really fine contributions are sure to happen.

We being: Phil Shapiro and Carrie Shore, the American Folk Tradition, playing thoroughly obscure songs with great choruses, old songs and not-so-old, for over 200 shows, all over.

Carrie plays wonderful fiddle, I play guitar, and we both sing.  And so, we hope, do you.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2017, BINGHAMTON.  We’ll be at the CRANBERRY COFFEEHOUSE at the UNITARIAN CHURCH on RIVERSIDE DRIVE at 7:30pm.  We’ll be singing songs old and not so old with excellent choruses.  You can come.  We’ll be glad to sing with YOU.  Help us, and the good people at the Cranberry, to make MAGIC.

Hope to see you, and sing with you.

Phil (and Carrie)

And, friends and neighbors, is your CD collection complete?  Well, we're having a lot of fun with our second live CD, the YOU'VE PLAYED WHERE? tour.

We're really proud of this CD.  It's about half traditional music, half newer songs written squarely in the folk tradition, by a number of fine writers.  For the first time, we've recorded one of Carrie's sparkling homemade waltzes, this one for a pair of good friends, Ken and Debra, on the occasion of their marriage.  And they’re still married!!  Yes, we've included Jean Ritchie's "Now is the Cool of the Day", and Woody Guthrie's "Do Re Mi", and a whole bunch of other good stuff.  Some talk, too, of course.

If you don't catch us at a show, but want some for presents, or just for yourself,

you can order the new CD

"the YOU'VE PLAYED WHERE? tour"

or the first CD

"the American Folk Tradition -- LIVE"

by mail.  $15 per CD, plus $2 per ORDER postage and handling, to Phil's address, below.
