I love the diversity of homes, people, sub-neighborhood groups as well
as the proximity to metro Rochester.

The thing I like most; Peoples willingness to get involved and make
the difference. It's pretty clear that people care enough about Corn
Hill to step up and push this thing forward. Cheers, -Scott

Things I love about CornHill:

1. The trees.
2. The gardens.
3. The architecture.
4. The friendly people I meet out on daily walks.
5. The great dogs that live in the neighborhood.
6. The revitalized waterfront.
7. The festival.
8. The Gazette.
9. The brick pillars with the street names.
10. The gazebo and other public "green" spaces.
11. The commitment residents show to maintain and improve the quality of
life in the neighborhood.

The historic importance of this neighborhood as it relates to the City of Rochester has always fascinated me. The Third Ward (Corn Hill portion) is where the "movers and shakers" lived and walked about in the 19th century. Rochester's philanthropic institutions had their beginnings behind the doors of our houses.

The architectural diversity and the cultural diversity make Corn Hill to me the most beautiful and interesting place to live in Rochester.

But the camaraderie of my neighbors has been the most important aspect of living here. One neighbor once said to me, "I hate to admit it, but being able to walk to and back home from parties is the best thing about living here." Another neighbor told me that during two decades of living in a prominent Rochester suburban village, he never knew most of his neighbors names, but within several weeks of moving to Corn Hill, he knew the names of nearly every one on his street. At the end of the day, it's about Corn Hill's residents.

I love the old time feeling of the place. I imagine the settlers of
Cornhill, riding in their carriages, dressed in their finery. I love the
gardens with the same kinds of flowers as in the "olden days". I love the
bricks and the rought iron. I love the craftmanship still evident in the
architecture and the details built in to the facades of the houses. I love
the gazebo.(It's not original, but sure looks it!) I love the trees and I
love the fact that Son House lived here and played his guitar on my street.
(His wife didn't allow blues music in the house, so he played old gospel
songs.) If these old houses could only talk!
