Required Skills

  • 7+ years of infrastructure engineering experience
  • 5+ years of VMware administration experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi
    • HA/DR and SRM solutions
    • Windows Server troubleshooting and patch remediation
    • SAN/NAS/vSAN storage
    • DNS, DHCP, IPAM, TCP/IP, VLANs
    • PowerShell scripting
    • Tanium and backup/recovery tools
  • Experience with NetApp, AWS/Azure, and enterprise environments preferred
  • VMware certifications (VCP/VCAP) preferred
  • Government or regulated industry experience is a plus

 

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced VMware Infrastructure Engineer to manage and support enterprise VMware environments and Windows Server systems for a state government client. The role involves VMware administration, Windows patch troubleshooting, disaster recovery, storage integration, and infrastructure support in a secure and highly available environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi environments
  • Troubleshoot Windows Server patching and vulnerability remediation issues
  • Perform log analysis using CBS.log, DISM.log, and WindowsUpdate.log
  • Use DISM, SFC, and PowerShell for Windows repair and automation
  • Manage VMware HA/DR, replication, SRM, backups, and recovery processes
  • Support SAN/NAS/vSAN storage integration and performance tuning
  • Troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, IPAM, TCP/IP, VLANs, and network issues
  • Implement VMware and Windows security hardening
  • Provide Tier 3 support, root cause analysis, and outage support
  • Maintain operational documentation and participate in change management
