GENERAL SUMMARY
Healthcare Data Analyst 2 is responsible for designing, implementing, and coordinating data analysis projects.
Duties include providing analytical support for accreditation and external regulatory agency audit activities, organizing and preparing HEDIS programming and data files, responding to RFPs from existing employer groups, compiling statistical profiles, and maintaining relational database solutions.
Provides key analytic and statistical support for quality, clinical, and operational improvement activities. Includes effectively summarizing complex information into appropriate charts, tables, and figures in order to convey the meaning of the data to customers and decision-makers.
Develops, prepares, and distributes complex clinical and operational reports utilizing multiple data systems.
Develops and provides support for relational databases, including reporting, design, and data management.
Provides key analytic, statistical support and database management for accreditation and other external regulatory review, audit activities, disease management, provider profiling, case management, concurrent review, prior authorization, and other utilization and quality management functions.
Provides project management for mid-sized projects.
MAJOR CHALLENGES:
Obtain data from varied and disparate information systems.
Develop analyses that appropriately address the questions posed.
Develop exhibits and presentation to communicate findings
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Required/Preferred Education Level Major/Area of Study And/Or Required Bachelor's Degree Highly quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering/Physics, Accounting, or Computer Science), plus 5 years of experience in data analysis. Or equivalent educ/experience Education/Experience Equivalencies High School Education or equivalent, plus 7 years of experience in data analysis.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred Healthcare organization/health insurer experience.
Preferred Statistical modeling experience.

• Requires a thorough understanding of job responsibilities, procedures, and practices, including a thorough understanding of data analysis operations outside of own area.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Must identify and recommend solutions to complex problems.
• Ability to take initiative to implement and/or improve established processes in support of operational area.
• Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office and Microsoft SQL-Server).
• Knowledge of SQL and VB/VBA programming required.
• Relational database skills required.
• Working knowledge of tools and techniques of CQI/TQM and statistical process control methodology required.
