Mid-Level SQL Server DBA

Project Duration : 3 to 6 months for a project that will be expedited.

Location: 100% REMOTE

 

Job Title: Mid-Level Database Administrator (SQL Server)

Position Overview:

Mid-Level SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments. This individual will be responsible for installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining SQL Server instances across multiple environments. The ideal candidate is technically strong, communicates clearly, and can work independently to achieve project objectives with minimal supervision.

This role will require occasional weekend and off-hours work to support installations, upgrades, and project deadlines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·                Install and configure Microsoft SQL Server 2016–2022 (Developer, Standard, Enterprise) on Windows Server environments.

·                Perform silent/unattended installations using configuration files and PowerShell.

·                Conduct post-installation health checks and validate system readiness.

·                Clearly communicate installation status, results, issues, and risks to stakeholders.

·                Plan and execute major version upgrades, including development and testing of rollback strategies.

·                Troubleshoot installation, configuration, and upgrade-related issues.

·                Maintain accurate technical documentation for installs, upgrades, and system configurations.

·                Support weekend and after-hours implementation windows as required.

Qualifications:

·                3–5 years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments.

·                Experience installing and configuring SQL Server 2016 through 2022.

·                Strong experience with unattended/silent installs using configuration files and

·                PowerShell.

·                Experience performing major version upgrades and implementing rollback strategies.

·                Practical experience with DBAtools and automation techniques.

Skills:

·                Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database performance and availability issues.

·                Ability to work independently to meet project objectives with minimal oversight.

·                Effective communication and collaboration skills.

·                Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
